DDA Compliance

Parcel Boxes Logo placeholder

DDA Compliance is an area of legislation that as a manufacturer and supplier of delivery products, we take extremely seriously to minimise any potential discrimination for users of our products.

The Safety Letterbox Company are a manufacturer of mail and parcel boxes founded in 1986, and part of the wider RENZ group who have been producing security solutions for over 100 years, we have developed a number of options that meet the requirements set out in the Disability Discrimination Act 2005.

What can we take from DDA compliance?

The opening door and aperture (if featured on a product) should be positioned between a height of 450mm and 1200mm from the floor level. These dimensions are recommended as featured in the Lifetime Homes Standard – published 5th July 2010.

Where possible, mail and parcel boxes should be positioned in location(s) throughout a dwelling that allow for deliveries to be retrieved without impacting on the accessibility for property users. It is important for architects, designers and specifiers to address the needs of disabled users by providing reasonable access to mailboxes and parcel boxes.
